Tinnitus Today Submission Guidelines
The American Tinnitus Association welcomes submissions of original feature articles, first person stories and letters to the editor about tinnitus-related topics. Submissions selected for publication are those that speak to an audience of tinnitus patients and their families, audiologists, medical doctors and other tinnitus healthcare professionals.
Previously published material
If you are submitting a previously published article, we ask that you obtain – and include a copy with your submission – permission for its use in Tinnitus Today.
Submission
Send as an email attachment in Word format to jennifer@ata.org. Or, mail on a CD in Word format along with a printed copy to Tinnitus Today, c/o ATA, P.O. Box 5, Portland, OR 97207-0005.
Feature articles
Tinnitus Today features articles on treatments (i.e. medications, masking, TRT), tinnitus-related conditions (i.e., hyperacusis, depression, Ménière’s disease), research studies and legal issues.
1,200-word maximum. Include author’s name, address, phone number, email address, any pertinent biographical information and, when appropriate, captions for tables, figures, illustrations and photos.
Personal stories
Your personal tinnitus success story can be tremendously encouraging to others. Describe how your tinnitus impacted your life in the past and what living with this condition is like for you today.
600-word maximum. Include author’s name, address, phone number, email address and any pertinent biographical information.
Letters to the Editor
EXAMPLES: Letter topics include a favorable outcome to a treatment (conventional, complementary, alternative); a successful tinnitus management strategy; a dietary discovery that helps minimize tinnitus symptoms; a statement about your experience with the magazine.
LENGTH: 200-word maximum. Include your name, address, phone number and email address. Please let us know how you would like us to identify you, along with your letter. For example, first and last name; first initial and last name; first name and last initial. Indicate if we may list your city and state as well.
RIGHT TO EDIT: ATA reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, brevity and accuracy. We may also reject any letter that the editor and publisher deem inappropriate for the magazine. Please include a statement of permission to print your letter in Tinnitus Today, or a request that we not print your letter.
