Topic: "Can Drugs Help?"
Message from Group Leader, Dhyan Cassie:
"Dear Friends, We discussed brain alteration as it relates to tinnitus. It turns out that it is relatively easy to change the brain’s reaction to adverse stimuli. All we have to do it give it something else to focus on. Our experience so far is that “something else” is pleasant sound. Ken Kistler who came to our group and has started a tinnitus self-help group in Delaware County, PA. showed us the combination units (hearing aids+sound generators) that have helped him. But isn’t there a pill you can take? That is what we are looking for – a pill that will stop tinnitus but have no unpleasant side effects. Is there such a thing? The Internet has a number of items for sale that offer your money back if you are not helped. Don’t go there! Is there a legitimate, legal, effective drug that will alleviate tinnitus? The International Tinnitus Conference held in Brazil in March had this as one of their topics. I will present the results of this discussion to you. I hope you can attend and join in our discussion. We are here to provide hope and help.
Sincerely, Dhyan"
