Note from Group Leader:
"Hi Everyone,
I want to thank everyone for the great meeting we had in August. Angela from Westside Audiology gave a great talk on tinnitus and how it affects our lives and ways we can learn to cope with it. She also discussed some of the latest devices available from an audiologist that may help relieve some of the discomfort of tinnitus as well as devices that can protect your ears from damaging sounds. It was a very helpful, informative and uplifting discussion and I thank Angela for coming and hope she will return for future visits.
This group meeting will be mostly discussion format, if any one has a suggestion for a topic(s) I would greatly appreciate anyones comments, input or ideas.
I have a brief presentation sent to us by SoundCure™. Their new device, the Serenade®, is a device similar to Neuromonics that uses tones via a headphone set that you listen to. They sent me a DVD and pamphlets and I will play the DVD for everyone and pass out the pamphlets. This device is the newest device on the market that uses sound as a method of controlling tinnitus. I have asked their Area Rep to make a visit to our group ... and I will follow up with him.
As always, I welcome anyone's comments or suggestions for future meetings. I will contact the audiologist from All Ears Hearing in Ithaca who does work with tinnitus in her clinic and see if she can attend a future meeting. Does anyone have any other ideas as to who may benefit our group? I can ask Dr. Fung if he would be interested in attending a meeting, maybe Naturtyme would be willing to do a presentation on natural methods used for sleep and relaxation .... I would appreciate everyone's opinions on these ideas; or if you have an idea of your own please share with me or the group! Thanks so much.
I look forward to seeing everyone on September 25th and as always your comments or questions are always welcome. You can contact me via email or (315) 214-8461; (315) 481-6119."
