Hi Everyone,

As we move into the Spring, we tend to spend more time outdoors where there is more noise. Our topic this month will be noise levels and how and when to protect our ears. There will be different types of ear protection to view from musician's ear plugs to headphones and there will be sample foam plugs for everyone. Please bring your ear protection gear and we can talk about the different attenuation characteristics of the various types of ear plugs.

At our next meeting, on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, I will review some of the research from a recent meeting I attended including "Neuroanatomical Changes Due to Hearing Loss and Chronic Tinnitus", "Analgesic Use and the Risk of Hearing Loss in Women" and some of the problems associated with hair cell regeneration.

These meetings provide support for people with tinnitus and hyperacusis. Current information on tinnitus treatments are presented along with discussion of coping with and managing the problems associated with tinnitus and hyperacusis. Please let us know if you will be attending the March 23rd meeting.  ~ Malvina C. Levy, Au.D. and Tracy Peck, Au.D.
