Note from group leader, Dhyan Cassie:
"It was interesting to learn to Dr. Malone and hear how hypnosis may help to alleviate tinnitus. As with Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, it is a method to distract the brain's attention from the tinnitus. If we can learn to re-focus, we can change the reaction to the tinnitus!

We have learned a great deal this year. We were privileged to talk to Dr. Richard Salvi, a leading tinnitus researcher, on the phone. We studied the anatomy of the ear and the audiogram. We talked about various "treatments" being offered on the radio and the internet.

For the meeting in May, we are going to summarize all this. We will discuss leading treatment methods and how to decide if one of these methods is for you. We will take a questionnaire to help determine if you need to pursue additional help. One of our members purchased a book published by the Mayo Clinic on Better Hearing and Balance. There is a chapter on tinnitus which we will discuss.
