Tinnitus: Breaking the Cycle

Note from group leader, Dhyan Cassie:

"Dear Friends,

I hope you had a rest over the holidays or, at least, after the holidays. The pleasant sounds of winter songs and Christmas carols can reduce tinnitus impact but stress can increase it, so you may have come out even. The presentation this month should help you.

At our last meeting we discussed the Widex 440 with Zen program - a hearing aid that incorporates white noise or fractal tones to break the cycle of tinnitus. The use of these sounds is based on Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).

This meeting I will present the Resound Live TS, another hearing aid that incorporates background sound for TRT. Resound has prepared a very good program to explain the use of sound to alleviate tinnitus. This will be a comprehensive program that explains the causes of tinnitus and presents current treatment. It is well prepared and very understandable.

You may not need a hearing aid or you already have one, but this program will give you a total look at tinnitus. Knowledge is power and I expect this power to help you get control over your tinnitus. I hope you can come."
