The Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California
1234 Divisadero St., 2nd floor conference room
San Francisco, CA 94115

Note from the group leader(s):
"There is a nice summary of the various talks from the tinnitus research meeting that took place in Chicago that I will bring to the meeting. Our focus this month will be on precipitating factors and events that might occur prior to the onset of tinnitus. For some people tinnitus can start gradually and one becomes aware of it when sitting quietly while for others it can start after a particular event, incident or change in one's life. I hope you will share your experiences and the effect tinnitus has had on your life, if any. We will discuss how this information can help us learn to manage our tinnitus and the effect it has on our lives.

We will NOT have a demonstration of a new tinnitus instrument as I had hoped. I do believe we will get to see some of these new treatment devices in the near future whether from the company or from people who have decided to try them out and bring them to our meetings.

We will NOT have a meeting in August. Our next meeting will be after the California Academy of Audiology Convention in late September where there will be a presentation on new tinnitus research by Dr. Fan-Gang Zeng from UC Irvine.

Questions and discussions are always a part of our tinnitus group and we encourage everyone to share his/her concerns.

Our meetings are free and open to the public and provide support for people with tinnitus and hyperacusis and their significant others. Current information on tinnitus treatments are presented along with discussion of coping with and managing the problems associated with tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Please let us know if you will be attending the meeting. Donations happily accepted. -Malvina Levy, Au.D. and Tracy Peck, Au.D."
