Personal message from Stephen Harrison:
Sounds to Soothe is the culmination of around 8 years of personal experimentation with tones, melody, noise, soundscapes and synthesis. This collection of music has been written to mask tinnitus and provide relaxation and relief from the noises that sufferers report. I’ve composed it using sounds that I find soothing (I have mid range and high pitched noises, with occasional low rumble), coupled with those that other sufferers express help them.
My aim has been to challenge the brain for the duration to adapt to various masking and suppressing tones. I believe that making the brain work harder increases the effectiveness of the masking tones and better helps to reduce the perception of the listeners own noises.
The album is mixed to be listened to with earphones or headphones; this is how it will have the best depth of sound and effect. The album is written to be heard in one sitting but you may feel happier dipping in and out of tracks that work in different ways for you. It’s a very personal condition so we each have our own approach to how we manage it.

Thanks for listening!
