ATA Participates in Discussion With New NIDCD Director
The ATA joined colleagues in the Friends of the Congressional Hearing Health Caucus for a round-table discussion on hearing health issues with Dr. Debra Tucci, the director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) and NIDCD staff members Buck Wong, chief of Science Policy and Planning Branch, and Elka Scordalakes, legislative director. Dr. Tucci, who was recently appointed director, underscored her desire to have significant public input on the NIDCD’s Strategic Plan, which will be updated in 2022. The Strategic Plan helps the Institute prioritize research investment into communication disorders, which includes tinnitus and hearing loss. The ATA will keep you abreast of when the plan is open for public comment so you can contribute your comments on allocating federal money for tinnitus research.
