Join the Jack Vernon Legacy Society

What will your legacy be?

ATA thrives through the dedication of people who make a difference every day. By including ATA in your estate plans, you join the Jack Vernon Legacy Society and help ensure the search for a cure continues for generations to come.

Continuing Jack's Mission

Jack Vernon, PhD, a pioneering tinnitus researcher and founding member of the American Tinnitus Association, dedicated his career to helping people with tinnitus. His goal was to provide meaningful relief while building a research community that could advance treatments and, eventually, find cures.

Thanks to his leadership and vision, we now have a far better understanding of tinnitus, its causes, and ways to reduce its impact on patients. Most importantly, an active community of researchers continues to carry his mission forward today.

The Jack Vernon Legacy Society honors those who continue Jack's work by making a planned gift to ATA. Your legacy will help fund innovative research and support people living with tinnitus long into the future.

Ways to Leave a Legacy

Gift in Your Will or Trust
Name ATA in your will or living trust. You can leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after providing for your loved ones.

Beneficiary Designation
Name ATA as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance policy, or bank or brokerage account. It's often as simple as filling out a form from your account provider, with no need to change your will. Retirement assets can be especially tax-efficient to leave to charity, since heirs may owe income tax on them while ATA does not.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust
Convert appreciated stock or real estate into a unitrust that provides you or your loved ones with income for life or a set term of years. You may receive an immediate tax deduction and avoid capital gains tax when the assets are transferred, and the remainder supports ATA.

Deferred Gift Annuity
Make a gift now and receive fixed payments beginning at a future date you choose, such as retirement. You may receive an immediate charitable deduction, and the longer you defer payments, the higher your payment rate.

Gifts of Stock or Real Estate
Give appreciated stock or real estate outright. You generally avoid capital gains tax and may deduct the full fair market value if you've owned the asset for more than a year.

Gift from Your IRA Today
If you're 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your IRA. For 2026, you can give up to $111,000 per person, and the gift isn't counted as taxable income.

Sample Bequest Language

Share this language with your attorney or financial advisor:
