Dr. Zhang runs a tinnitus research lab at Wayne State University, studying the mechanisms of noise- and blast-induced tinnitus and related TBI, and developing pharmaceutical and medical device solutions. He serves as principal investigator on federal and private agencies-funded projects, has over 90 publications and patents, and trained nearly 50 residents, postdocs, and graduate students. He organized a special issue on tinnitus, which appeared in the journal Frontiers in Neurology. He and Dr. Grant Searchfield are currently editing a volume: The Behavioral Neuroscience of Tinnitus by Springer.
